The holiday home is situated in the centre of the ancient town of Plau am See, near the market. The timber-framed building originally was built around 1800.
It took three years to carefully refurbish our house in Plau. The refurbishment made allowances for the historic building stock and also took ecologic aspects into account. Innovative, functional floor plans and the implementation of alternative energy concepts provide an optimal interior climate.
On the grounds of these criteria, Cavallino was awarded the second prize for the outstanding private refurbishment project by the town of Plau am See within the framework of the "Medieval Historic Centre" plan.
Historic building material was used: old clay crown tiles for the ancient shindle roof, some original doors and windows, historic tiles in the bathroom, loam walls and ceilings. There is also a small vaulted cellar in the house.
The compartments have been rebuilt in loam construction. Some of the old historic beams could still be used. Loam creates a particularly good room climate (diffusion of air humidity). The building can be heated using wood in tiled stoves (charm of east nostalgia) or heating systems built into the walls.
Therefore, all rooms are especially suited for people with allergies, seeking recreation in the climatic spa of Plau am See. Please understand that we do not allow any pets in the property, since we are and would like to remain a house for people with allergies. Because of the loam construction the property maintains a particular room climate. For this reason and because of the construction using a lot of wood, we would like you to abstain from smoking.
From the upper floors, you have a wonderful view of the river Elde.
The common kitchen and the lounge are on the ground floor. The kitchen is completely equipped with microwave, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, cupboards and china and a table seating 12 people.
The first floor has 3 double rooms and a common bathroom with two washbasins, WC and shower.
There is 1 large double room on the top floor (loft conversion) with 1 extra bed available as well as a separate room with a large farmhouse bed for 1 person or 2 children. The top floor also has a bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC.
You can also book the entire holiday home (minimum stay: 1 week). This would involve a price advantage of EUR 480 as compared to booking each room separately.
The courtyard has also been refurbished and offers you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the fresh air. The courtyard is equipped with two sets of tables and benches, two parasols, tables and benches with seat cushions.
The quiet location amid a row of historic timber-framed buildings and the plants and trees create tranquility and a relaxing atmosphere at your doorstep.
The ground floor of the cottage has a shop and a kitchen with a big table, the first floor has 3 double rooms and a large common bathroom, the top floor has a studio (large double room) and a large single room and another bathroom. The floor plans below provide an overview of the location of the individual rooms.
